[updated 11/18/2022]:
Atlanta Friends Meeting is continuing in-person events and activities at the Meeting House. We are following CDC recommendations on masking. If the CDC's Community COVID Level for Dekalb County is High, masks are required for everyone in the building over the age of two; otherwise masks are optional. We continue to encourage vaccination and boosters for all those who can. In-person Meetings for Worship will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays, though we are also continuing to support virtual attendance and participation via Zoom with audio and video connections in the Worship space.
Please review our Info for In-Person Attendance to participate. Additional notices, Meeting schedules and activity opportunities are found in the Weekly Announcement Sheet, with more published in our current Newsletter issue (also linked on Events page).
Please continue to hold in the Light all those affected by this outbreak. If you have a need for community assistance or would like to offer help, please see the Care and Counsel Support section of our Members & Attenders page. Related notifications, updates and virtual meeting details are also mirrored and circulated via the AFM listserv and on the AFM FaceBook Group.
If you have questions, concerns or suggestions, please contact Jennifer Dickie, Clerk of Meeting, at AFMclerk1@gmail.com.
As Friends we
are called to the outward expression of the inner workings of
the Spirit. Our testimonies help to inform us about what is
important in one’s relation to God and with all of creation. At
this time we are called to outward action by the Friends
testimonies of Peace, Integrity, Community and Equality. While
each of us in the Atlanta Friends Meeting will find our outward
expression of Spirit, the Atlanta Friends Meeting supports the
calls of the current protests for an end to racism in all its
forms as we continue to be guided by these testimonies in our
work to uproot the effects of systemic racism in ourselves, our
Meeting, and within the Religious Society of Friends.
AFM's ongoing commitment to equality is
further reflected in the minutes of our Equality
page, which includes our recent meeting Minutes on Anti-Racism
, Racist
Violence & Domestic Terrorism , and for Minute
+ Forums on Reparative Justice. Also go to our Equality
page for the AFM
Interpersonal Racist Incident Policy, AFM
groups working on anti-racism, and further resources.
“Within the tradition of Friends,
testimonies are revelations of God’s will, outward expressions
of the inner workings of the Spirit that have been collectively
accepted across time.”
(SAYMA. (2012) A Guide to Our Faith and Practice, p. 43.)
Who we are:
The Atlanta Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends
is an unprogrammed, non-pastoral Quaker Meeting, gathered in the
belief that every person has the capacity to know the will of
the Divine directly, in continuing revelation, requiring neither
a specific liturgy nor the interpretation of an intermediary.
Because Friends believe that there is that of God in everyone,
we welcome each person, regardless of race, color, ethnicity,
national origin, age, sex, marital status, disability, religious
beliefs, sexual orientation and gender identity (to name only
the most obvious). Our ongoing efforts to assure that Everyone
Is Welcome are also reflected in our public
statement meeting minutes addressing equality,
race and gender identity.

In meeting for worship, we reflect together in silence,
listening for the Divine to speak to us, unless someone feels
led by the Spirit to share a message aloud.
